Hello! This is Vanessa Montanari from the clinical research blog. So, the question of the day is how do I find a position in my area?

How do I find a CRA position in my area?

So, I know that many of you don’t want to leave your region and don’t want to come to the Paris region where most of the CROs and pharmaceutical companies are located, and I can understand you.

In particular, when you live in the south, you want to stay in the sun. But in fact, it all depends on the region you live in. For example, if you’re in a region like Lyon, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, or the Toulouse or Bordeaux region, or Brittany, or Lille, you can probably stay in your region. But for some other regions, it will be more difficult to find CRA positions.

The best way to stay in your area is to work as a small clinic technician. This is also known as a Site coordinator. So, by the way, you work with the investigator and so you’re going to have to do some research at the hospital level. That is to say, you can contact hospitals in your region to find a position in your area. The other solution to be able to work in your region, it started with a position in île-de-France. So in the Paris region, and then work in a big CRO because these CROs allow their employees to be « Home based », that is to say, they work from home, in their region. So after a few years, you can apply to work in your region and return to your region.

Those are the two solutions to be able to work in your region. Another solution is to become a freelancer, which requires several years of experience. About four years at least to be able to have a CV that is of interest to companies that hire freelancers.

I would like to add my experience as certified coach and that might provide with advising for people who want to become a CRA. If help is needed in the form of customized advice or coaching to carry on with your research, and/or to evolve.
